Urban Dissolution: a trilogy of absence

chapter I — the lonely city

chapter II — displacement

chapter III — nightmare

Urban Dissolution: A Trilogy of Absence is a multi-part narrative series that explores the psychological erosion of the self within the modern landscape. Utilizing paper-cutting, collage, and mono-tonal textures, the work documents a gradual descent from quiet isolation into fractured disorientation.

The narrative begins with "The Lonely City," where architectural forms are rendered in white-on-white relief. Here, the city is a ghost—tangible but unreachable, defined by shadow and void. As the sequence progresses into "Displacement," the organic texture of the paper shifts to a raw, earth-toned fiber. The structures begin to fold, lean, and detach from their foundations, mirroring the internal instability of an identity losing its "place" in the world.

The series culminates in "Nightmare," where the subtle nuances of the previous chapters are shattered by aggressive black ink and high-contrast silhouettes. The architecture is no longer a shelter but a cage or a void. Through this visual evolution, the work challenges the viewer to witness the transformation of a home into a haunt, and a city into a psychological trap.
