Green Lentil Dal - Ayurvedic Recipe

Ingriedients
1 tsp olive oil
1 Tbsp ghee
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 small red onion (optional)
1 medium tomato
100 gr. green dal
1 cup water
salt
Preparation
Rinse the moong dal thoroughly under running water until the water runs clear. Soak overnight or in enough water for about 30 minutes, or 2-3 hours if you are not using an Instant Pot or pressure cooker. Drain and set aside.
Heat the oil and the ghee over medium heat.
Add turmeric, cumin seeds, salt and chopped onions. Sauté for 2-3 minutes till, or until onions are translucent.
Add chopped tomatoes. Sauté for 2-3 minutes, or until tomatoes are soft.
Add green moong and water to cover.
Add 3-4 coriander stems, without the flower. (optional)
Turn On Instant Pot (pressure cooker) to pressure cook for 15 minutes. Let pressure release naturally, around 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, release the remaining pressure manually.
If you don’t have an Instant Pot or pressure cooker, cook the moong beens till the daal is soft.
Let sit 5 minutes after cooking, stir and serve warm.
Tip:
Add fresh coriander leaves, and drizzle with lemon.
For a balanced meal serve the green moong daal with basmati rice.
